If you’re ready to take drying your hair seriously, the Bio Ionic 10x Ultralight Speed Dryer is what you need. It is hands down the best hair dryer available today. It will dry your hair in less than 10 minutes while keeping the hair moisturized and healthy thanks to its unique technology (it’s mind-blowing really, more on that below).

Now a premium hair dryer isn’t for everyone. It’s expensive. But if you’re ready to upgrade from a model that’s most probably burning your hair and damaging your scalp, this is the absolute best option to chose. It will last you for a very long time (it comes with a 10-year warranty) and will moisturize your hair for a smooth and silky look.

WHO IS IT BEST FOR:

The Bio Ionic 10x Ultralight Speed isn’t for everyone. Not because it’s expensive. With a 10 year warranty, I’m sure that it will come down cheaper than having to replace an inexpensive hair dryer every other year for that same period.

Because of its special technology that keeps the hair moisturized, the 10x Ultralight Speed Dryer might not be a good option for some people.

If you have long, thick, curly and/or frizzy hair, the 10x will be perfect for you. It will save you time by cutting by half the amount of time needed to blow dry your hair. And you might not need a hair straightener afterward. The Bio Ionic will leave your hair soft, light and smooth.

But on the other hand, if you have fine hair, the 10x Ultralight Speed might provide too much hydration to your hair. As a result, your hair might look a bit flat and lacking volume.

One month with Bio Ionic 10x Ultralight Speed Dryer

I’ll be honest with you, I used to dread drying my hair. I’m lucky that I get to test tons of great natural shampoos and conditioners for Beauty Wise Up. But when it came to blow drying my hair, the results were always widely unpredictable. I would sometimes have to spend 20 minutes with my hairdryer, followed by another 5 minutes with a hair straightener.

This was especially the case when I didn’t use a natural conditioner as my hair would be fizzier after drying.

I would describe my hair as being fairly normal. It isn’t especially curly, but it’s thick and easily frizzy, especially when it’s hot outside. My haircut is about shoulder length.

So when I asked his opinion about hair dryers, my hairdresser got very excited. He’s a bit of a geek and loves researching and testing new devices for his salon.

The first thing that he said was that my cheap hair dryer was bad for my hair. He had actually already told me that before, but what could I do. I can’t just wait forever for my hair to dry.

But he was right. No matter how good my hair washing routine is, I was damaging my hair and my scale by blowing hot hair on them.

Since then, the Bio Ionic has literally changed my hair drying routine. Especially when used after actually washing my hair 🙂

Nowadays, I only need 7 minutes to blow dry my hair. And if I’ve used a natural conditioner after my shampoo, I don’t even need the straightener anymore. It makes a world of difference.

There are a few things that make this hair dryer particularly good. First, natural volcanic rock minerals are used inside its motor to blow out negatively charged ions onto the hair. It might sound like gibberish. I certainly was very skeptical about it. But after doing some research online I understand now how it works and what it does. It’s fairly simple really. In a nutshell, the technology mostly helps with drying the hair faster while leaving it moisturized.

Next is the power level. This hair dryer runs on 1,800 watts so it’s much more powerful than my previous model. It’s somehow also much efficient and thus environmentally-friendly. Bio Ionic 10x Ultralight Speed Dryer vs Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

Let’s address the elephant in the room, shall we? When talking about high-end premium hair dryers, everyone will now be thinking about the Dyson Supersonic. It’s beautiful, modern and elegant. It works great. And it also emits ionized particles (although not from natural volcanic minerals). But, it’s also $100 more expensive ().

So is that extra 30% worth it?

Technically, Dyson is definitely more advanced. Air temperature is measured 20 times every second to ensure a consistent temperature that won’t damage your hair by avoiding extreme heat. Its engine is very powerful, that’s what Dyson is most known for, of course, so your hair will be blown dry really fast.

The most significant difference, however, is the four heat settings of the Dyson that the Bio Ionic doesn’t have. If you like to control the heat level, that will be important for you.

But are those 4 heat settings and a gorgeous design worth the extra money? That’s for you to decide.

The other hair dryer that the 10x is most often compared to is the PowerLight Pro, also from Bio Ionic.

The PowerLight Pro is a cheaper option () thanks mostly to its less powerful motor and lower quality minerals for the ionizer. Its warranty is also half as long, still covering you for 5 years though. But, the PowerLight Pro does come with a separate heat switch.
