L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo Review

Our Verdict

I tend to be skeptical of any product that claims to be like an aromatherapy. But this shampoo from L’Occitane proved me wrong. With its Aromachologie repairing shampoo, L’Occitane gives us a rich and soothing treatment. Its essential oils have a natural moisturizing effect and will leave your hair silky soft and shiny.

But best of all, it’s the divine smell of the Aromachologie repairing shampoo that makes me come back to it with joy every time. The organic fragrance is strong under the shower but not overpowering once your hair is dried. It will leave you feeling as if you just came out of a Spa.

Overall, L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo is perfect for regular use on dry and combination scalps. It’s pricey, but it lathers well so you’ll probably be using half the amount of your other shampoos. The bottle will thus last you much longer. Just be careful if you dye your hair, however, as it tends to strip the hair of dye color.

One month with L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo

Look, I’m biased when it comes to this shampoo. There. I’ve said it.

I never quite bought into the buzz surrounding L’Occitane, so when asked if I wanted to test their Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo for a month, I was only mildly interested. But the minute I opened the bottle and smelled the amazing organic fragrance of the shampoo, I fell in love with it.

So I’ll try to be as objective as possible in my review of L’Occitane’ shampoo, but it worked so well for me that I don’t have many negative things to say about it. I did find a few areas for improvements though (see below).

But first things first, the Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo is perfect for your everyday use. Its texture is light and slightly creamy. It lathers very well, so you’ll only use a small amount to wash your hair (my hair is about shoulder length).

A wash leaves my hair naturally soft. The shampoo is silicone-free and uses a natural complex of five essential oils to work its magic: Angelica, Lavender, Geranium, Ylang-ylang, and Patchouli. L’Occitane has also included wheat proteins to help repair, strengthen and soften dry and damaged hair.

It works perfectly for me.

And then there is the scent! It’s a mix of citrus, blood oranges, bergamot, and yuzu. It really makes me feel like I just visited a Spa every time I get out of my shower. It’s a strong fragrance, but not at all overpowering.

That said, I don’t use dye and I’ve heard that people who do often find that this shampoo strips the hair of the color. L’Occitane says that its shampoo works well with color treat though. So if you do color your hair, you might want to get a sample size and try it out first.

How to use L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo?

Prior to shampooing, you should brush your hair to loosen dirt and disentangle the hair. Wet your hair thoroughly, pour a bit of shampoo into your hands, then gently massage onto your scalp. Rinse thoroughly once you’re done.

Results

Hair feels freshly cleaned, smooth and naturally shiny. The essential oil’s aroma will brighten your morning and gently follow you through the day.
