Maybe we are just slightly obsessed with Jessica Alba, but we love her Honest Beauty’s clean line of beauty products. Honestly (sorry, we could not resist)!
The dual-sided Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara and Primer (previously named Truly Lush Mascara) is a real standout. We love that this natural, multitasking mascara does not flake off or smudge under the eye, contrary to many green beauty mascaras.
It definitely does the job in lengthening the lashes. Plus, it is really easy to remove.
Bonus point for not irritating sensitive eyes.
With that said, let’s dive in our review of Jessica Alba’s favorite mascara.

Oh, mascara.
There’s just something about that magical little wand that brightens up our eyes in an instant, makes us look instantly more awake, and empowers shy sparse lashes.
But with great power comes great responsibilities, right! The skin around your eyes is indeed the thinnest, and thus it more readily absorbs anything we apply to it.
Luckily for us, natural mascaras are finally competing with their chemical-laden counterparts and we have found just the right one for those looking for a non-irritating, hypoallergenic formula: Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara and Primer is one of the best natural mascaras we’ve tried in a long, long time and definitely one of our daily essentials!
This natural mascara features a double-edged compact wand — one for primer and one for mascara — formulated to work together for lush length and volume (no false lashes required).
The formulations are both paraben, silicone, petrolatum, paraffin, and fragrance-free, which means hello perfect lashes minus the chances of irritation and side effects.
For years, we’ve looked at lush primer as an annoying extra step, but Honest Beauty has converted us. Basically acting as underwear for the lashes, the nourishing mascara primer protects lashes and creates an even base which defines lashes and intensifies the color of the mascara.
The applicator for the primer has small bristles which help coat each hair perfectly. It applies white, but don’t worry—it dries clear in a matter of seconds.
The mascara, on the other hand, is rich midnight dark which lays down smoothly with a short-bristled applicator tapered for a more defined and refined look. The formula dries almost instantly to prevent smudging and color spreading over the eyelids.
We are impressed with the overall performance of the mascara, and how natural it looks and feel. Plus, it washes away with ease. There is, however, one downside to Honest Beauty’s Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara and Primer: it is not as long lasting as mainstream choices. But, hey, it’s a no-brainer for us if it means we can avoid all those chemicals and toxins!
Overall, it’s an excellent everyday mascara, especially if you don’t mind retouching now and then while you’re out.
After all, if Alba can rock her own makeup almost daily, it certainly proves that it’s perfect for everyday no-make make-up looks as well as high-glam occasions.
If you weren’t an all-natural beauty product believer before, you definitely will be now.
How to apply Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara and Primer?
Brush primer (not critical, but recommended: it conditions the lashes, and preps them to build length and volume) through upper lashes evenly from root to tip.
Allow lash primer to dry for 30 seconds then apply mascara to upper and lower lashes.
To remove, close eyes and gently wipe lashes clean using makeup remover. Rinse with water.
Results
The eyelashes look longer, fuller, more defined and lifted.
